Square dancing is a wonderful activity that provides light aerobic exercise, mental stimulation, and social interaction in a safe environment.
Physically, it may lower risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain types of cancer, age-related memory loss, and osteoporosis.
Mentally, remembering all of the calls may help to keep the mind sharp, potentially staving off age-related memory loss.
Socially, having a large circle of friends may lower depression and provide a social support structure.

Vic Puzey recently featured in one of our local papers. The article was about how one can keep very busy, healthy and happy after retirement, (Vic used to be a Principal of one our high schools). Vic first suggested our current venue years ago. Vic and Joan have remained strong supporters of Square Dancing for many years.

To Jeff …. Some doggerel by Vic
O how we love your calling
It’s not what you call just drawling
But it generally keeps us from falling
And nobody’s (yet) gone home bawling.
You’re gentle and kind
When our place we can’t find
You don’t seem to mind
When we act like we’re blind.
Was I a head or a side?
I do need a guide
I’ll just keep out wide
While the others decide
Circle right did you call?
How is it that all
The others are fine
But my mind’s in decline
El Paso you say
So we all look to Ray
He’ll know what to do
And so should you!
Our tickets we take out
Then from Reg there’s a shout
But his run of just winning
Now’s not like to beginning
The “Cuppa Tea”’s Ray’s call
And that’s welcome to us all
We thank Jeff for the night
For it turned out alright!
