Jeff's Square Dance Related Articles
These are articles related to Square Dancing that I have written. I recently re-found the original WORD files documents for the olders ones. Most of the newer ones have been copied from my archive of "Australian Callers Federation" newsletter "Callerlink", (which I was editor of for several years). The "date" information is based upon the "last save date" of the original documents. Some of the dates might not be correct, but should be close.
Do you prefer a glass that is "Half Full" or "Half Empty"?

Do you prefer a glass that is "Half Full" or "Half Empty"?
This question is often used as a measure of whether you are an "optimist" or a "pessimist".
Well I'm a person who does not accept only two options. I tend to look for a third option, and in the above case my third option is "the glass is twice as big as it really needs to be".
In history, creative ideas have tended to come from someone who was not willing to accept that options are strictly limited. They have always sought a different way to answer a challenge or a question. I am convinced that all have this ability to see beyond the normal way of looking at things, but human conditioning of our thought process, will sometimes blind us. (Sometimes we just need to “think outside the box”.)
Square dancing is no exception. How many times have you danced and enjoyed a combination of calls that seemed unique, and you were left wondering “why didn’t I think of that?” The reason you didn’t think of it is because you have probably been pre-conditioned to not think of that idea. If this is happening to you I suggest you take a step outside the normal world you have been conditioned to work in and explore what is beyond. It's not easy, but it is worth it.
