DEAR SANTA
Excerpt from Callerlink Issue 149 (Editors Christmas message for December 2001)
By: Jeff Garbutt, Western Australia

Hi Santa, how are you and Mrs Santa ?

Thank you for sending us a grandson in time for last Christmas. He is a fit, healthy and happy lad.
I have tried to be an especially good boy this year. So I hope that you can help me out with my

Christmas "wish list" for this year: (In no particular order)

I WISH THAT:

- All callers and clubs realise that they are on the same side. Instead of treating each other as "the competition" they should treat each other as on the one team. Our real competition is other sporting and dancing activities.
- All callers support their State bodies, and help out wherever they can. "Many hands make light work".
- All callers get involved and help out with some of the decision making processes that are happening at State, National and International levels.
- Callers and clubs start working together, sharing resources, visiting each other and maybe holding combined functions (including social functions).
- Everyone start being more positive and become part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Ask not what square dancing can do for you - but what you can do for square dancing.
- We had more up and coming young callers (around early twenties) to attract younger dancers and look after our future.
- Callerlab stop making stupid changes to the Mainstream program. Sorry, that's a bit harsh. I wish that Callerlab devise a new system of making amendments to our programs - one that involves consulting everyone who may be affected by the changes, not just their membership.

Santa - if you can help us with above miracles - we will all get on with the job of re-vitalising Square Dancing and giving it a good future.
Oh, and one more thing - and this should be really simple compared to all the above - I would like to have World peace for all humanity.

Thank you Santa
